Heath Brady: The song is called Black Eyed Monday’s It is the fourth song on the A side of our new «Sun City White» album. The lyrics describe substance addiction and the allure of self abuse like an obsession to unwholesome love. The temptation and romance of the seduction is like the song of the sirens leading doomed sailors onto the rocks, the beloved two dance together into destruction. Musically it draws upon diverse influences. The song begins as a Latin tango, with castanets, guiro and triangle ( of all things!) with Alexander growling baritone like Waits or Cohen. The girls purr as if personifying the very embodiment of the «high» everybody is chasing. She tempts our hero, and drags him down into the abyss, «Down where the water runs dark and cold». The song shifts into a polka influenced by Russian gypsy music. The ending speeds up into an unstoppable frenzy and you can imagine the smashing of Greek crockery! OOPA ! Hope you like it as much as we do.
